I Am Always Me
The Stories Behind the Pages
The inspiration for I Am Always Me came from a deeply personal moment.
A conversation between my brother and his daughter, Eliana, stayed with me. She had been hurt by unkind comments about some of her physical features, and I could hear the helplessness in his voice as he tried to reassure her. From far away, I found myself wishing I could offer her something lasting, something that would remind her of who she is beyond the opinions of others.
That was the beginning of this book.
Over time, I realized the message was not only for her. It was for any child who has ever questioned their worth after hearing words that did not reflect who they truly are. Children deserve language that helps them recognize their own value and stay anchored in it.
Every word and illustration in this book was created with intention. From the background details to the character’s expression, each visual choice was designed to support the emotional heart of the story.
My hope is that I Am Always Me becomes more than a story. I hope it serves as a quiet reminder that a child’s worth is not something earned from the approval of others, but something they already carry.

L'histoire derrière ce livre
L’inspiration de Je suis toujours moi est née d’un moment profondément personnel.
Une conversation entre mon frère et sa fille, Eliana, est restée dans ma mémoire. Elle avait été blessée par des commentaires désobligeants sur certaines de ses caractéristiques physiques, et j’entendais dans la voix de son père toute l’impuissance d’un parent qui cherche à protéger la confiance de son enfant.
Étant loin d’elle, j’ai eu envie de lui offrir quelque chose de durable, quelque chose qui lui rappellerait qui elle est au-delà du regard des autres.
C’est ainsi que ce livre a vu le jour.
Avec le temps, j’ai compris que ce message ne s’adressait pas seulement à elle. Il s’adresse à tout enfant qui a déjà remis en question sa valeur à cause de paroles qui ne reflétaient pas sa véritable identité.
Chaque mot et chaque illustration ont été pensés avec intention. Mon souhait est que Je suis toujours moi devienne plus qu’une histoire: un doux rappel que la valeur d’un enfant ne dépend pas de l’approbation des autres. Elle existe déjà en lui.

Pat, the Cat and the Rat
Pat, the Cat and the Rat began with a simple idea: I wanted to give my two-year-old son a real book he could read and enjoy on his own.
At the time, I had been creating simple sentence cards for him, but I wanted something with pictures, characters, rhythm, and a story to follow.
So I created a playful early reader built around simple CVC words, repetition, short sentences, and a clear storyline.
The goal was to help beginning readers connect words with pictures, follow meaning, and feel the confidence of reading a complete story by themselves.
